Introduction
After securing a $40M USD Series A with a16z, The Coterie was ready to expand its user base beyond iOS and open its platform to the world. Tamba was selected to build The Coterie’s mobile-responsive web platform for web and Android users.
The Challenge
Build The Coterie’s web platform in 11 weeks while:
Adhering to a well defined design system
Maintaining high security standards
Ensuring 100% bug-free functionality from day one
Enabling mobile responsiveness across all devices
Building with clean and concise code for future scalability

Planning and Management
We adopted a milestone-based approach, focusing first on essential features such as the Home, Portfolio, and Capital calls sections. Each milestone was carefully planned to ensure a smooth transition from one phase to the next, maintaining the integrity and functionality of the platform.

Communication and Collaboration
Internal Communication:
Daily Stand-ups: Brief daily meetings in accordance with scrum.
Notion: For documentation.
Linear: For project and task management.
1-1 Sessions: Regular one-on-one meetings helped resolve any roadblocks quickly.

External Communication:
Client Updates: Weekly written updates + demos. Biweekly meetings.
Slack: Everyone talks to everyone. This meant Tamba’s front end and The Coterie’s back end teams were always in sync.
Planning and Management
Major Challenges: One of the hurdles was navigating a seamless back end integration with Coterie’s infrastructure.

Innovative Solutions:
We increased developer visibility through internal bug bashes and a steady PM process. This helped us stay organized and identify issues early.
Insights and Impact
We experimented with a different approach
We invested more time and energy at the planning stage to ensure 100% alignment on features and scope. This allowed us to provide accurate cost and time estimates. This helped us move fast but not break things.

Technologies
TypeScript, Next.js 13, Tailwind UI, GraphQL, ESLint, Jest, Cyprus, Prettier.
The project significantly expanded Coterie’s user base, making the platform accessible to a broader audience. Ethan Agarwal, the CEO appeared on Bloomberg to demo the finished product.
